Asaph | Who was this guy?

I've started studying through the Psalms of Asaph (Psalm 50, 73-83) with some lovely ladies from church. Asaph, who is he? You might ask.

He was appointed by King David to proclaim and prophesy and lead the people in praise and thanksgiving. A chief song leader. Skillful. Talented. A songwriter. Loudly, he played bronze cymbals from the time the ark of the covenant entered the tabernacle until it saw a permanent, physical temple built by Solomon. A capable man in a line of Levites. Faithfully, he left a legacy.

You can read more about him and his sons here:

1 Chronicles 6:31-48
1 Chronicles 15:16-19, 28
1 Chronicles 16:1-7, 37
1 Chronicles 25:1-8
2 Chronicles 5:12-14
2 Chronicles 20:13-17
2 Chronicles 29:30
Ezra 2:40, 41
Nehemiah 12:46

Any connection to this being released, or just a God-incidence? :) http://www.noisetrade.com/loudharp/asaph-ep-live-at-st-idas
